agreed. not to stir the pot or anything, but i’m not 100% for Invisible Children.
I’m all for raising awareness about JKony but posting a facebook status or giving money to IC isn’t going to solve the problem. Thoughts?
I have edited my previous post about Kony 2012 to…
“ Design is not subjective, it’s just that a visual problem has multiple solutions, some better than others. ”

Additionally, In-N-out just makes burgers, Chick Fil A just makes chicken products, and Sprinkles makes cupcakes. Porsche just makes cars, and TAG Heuer just makes watches. Stax just makes headphones. Leica and Arri just makes cameras. MIT is just a school; same goes for Oxford. Les Paul was just a guitar-maker, and Hiwatt just makes amps. Hyperion is just a tree, as is General Sherman. Ansel Adams was just a photographer, and Henri Cartier-bresson wasn’t much more of one. Tolkien was just an author, and Jonathan Ive is just a designer. Lord of the Rings is just fantasy, same as Star Wars. Einstein was just clever, and Da Vinci similarly so. Luther was just a priest, and Calvin was just a pastor. The wheel is just a circle. The internet is just a system.
Generalizations and rationalizations can always be made, but the truth is this: there are people who care deeply about their craft, and through painstaking endeavors manifest nonpareil results, results that sometimes bring irreversible change in both technology and philosophy. In the same strain of thought, there are people and creatures whom are simply remarkable for rare pulchritude, magnitude, or talent. If people want to generalize, anything can be generically rendered as what it technically is (ex. a lion is just a cat), yet the quality and grandeur of said item or creature truly is is limited.
That being said, I personally don’t think it is the wisest decision to always pursue acquisition of the finest products. But I fervently believe in the respect and pursuit of quality- within practical means.
Coffee is just coffee if you don’t care. And while I do admit that instant and fast food coffee have their place, that is they shall be exactly - mindlessly assembled beverage haphazardly rendered for instant gratification and caffeination.
On the other hand, there is a world of coffee where every cup is crafted by hand. Truly crafted. Not “press a button and it comes out of a machine” crafted. Same with the beans. Carefully roasted. Not “burnt to a Dante’s sixth level of inferno” where all you can taste is char and therefore need to cover it up with various condiments.
Straight up hand-assembled. By people who know what they’re doing and care.
1. Being altered by the Gospel.
2. Being mentored.
3. Mentoring.
4. Honing the art of stillcraft.
5. Pursuing the basics of cinematics.
6. With people I love dearly.
7. Learning to love more people more and loving more the people that I already cherish most.
8. with sleep cycles beginning in the PM vs early AM.
9. being educated about better coffee.
10. sharing better coffee avidly.
11. fighting the charredbucks hype.. graciously.
12. establishing a small coffee lab in my place of residence
13. constructing a personal creative space for similar intentions.
I have a strict “No North Korean leader corpses” rule on the TCD but I’m letting it go ONE TIME ONLY because waving bear trumps everything.
